Fight for Lights

A Case for NBC's Friday Night Lights

UPDATE (May 23) : Friday Night Lights returns with reruns this summer (Sundays at 9/8 Central).

UPDATE (May 10) : Looks like it's official, folks. Kristin at E! Online reports that Season Two is on its way with a full order of 22 episodes. Michael Ausiello at TV Guide confirms the excellent news.

UPDATE (April 11) : First comes the Peabody. Then come an additional six scripts. Let's hope renewal is next.

The press has spoken. The public agrees. Friday Night Lights was one of the best things to come out of 2006-07. We think it deserves a shot at 2008, too.

Let this page be a monument to its excellence. Let it be a resource for The Powers That Be, where they may carefully examine its brilliance before deciding its fate. Most importantly, let it be a place where we, the fans, can say that we fought our hardest to keep a great thing alive.

Who are you?

My name is James. A few of you might know me as that guy who runs Northern Attack. I make a habit of championing television shows in need (see Supersize My Office). Strangely, these shows tend to be on NBC.

I like Friday Night Lights, too! What can I do to help?

That's the spirit. You can start off by leaving a comment on our modest petition. All that I ask of you beyond that is to simply get the word out about Fight for Lights, and, more importantly, about the show. Watch it, buy it (requires iTunes), do whatever it is you need to do in order to demonstrate your support.

If you come across any positive press regarding the show -- old, recent, anything at all that could be used to support renewal -- please let me know via e-mail at james@fightforlights.com.

You may also want to check out a few of the other Friday Night Lights petitions floating around. The folks at Save Friday Night Lights have kindly provided instructions on how to contact NBC directly. MySpacers can express their support here.

Final thoughts?

Yes, I'd like to thank Arcade Fire for another top-notch effort. I listened to Neon Bible many, many times while putting this place together. It's inspiration personified in a four-and-half-inch plastic disc.
