It is the best show on TV. I NEVER miss it, nor does my husband. Love it!!!
UPDATE (May 23) : Friday Night Lights returns with reruns this summer (Sundays at 9/8 Central).
UPDATE (May 10) : Looks like it's official, folks. Kristin at E! Online reports that Season Two is on its way with a full order of 22 episodes. Michael Ausiello at TV Guide confirms the excellent news.
UPDATE (April 11) : First comes the Peabody. Then come an additional six scripts. Let's hope renewal is next.
The press has spoken. The public agrees. Friday Night Lights was one of the best things to come out of 2006-07. We think it deserves a shot at 2008, too.
Let this page be a monument to its excellence. Let it be a resource for The Powers That Be, where they may carefully examine its brilliance before deciding its fate. Most importantly, let it be a place where we, the fans, can say that we fought our hardest to keep a great thing alive.
Amazing show!
It is the best show on TV. I NEVER miss it, nor does my husband. Love it!!!
Lights is the best written T.V. series in years. The cast is TOP NOTCH. It would be sad if it were not renewed. The characters are so real and you can identify with them. Keep it on the air!!!!!
it's the best show on TV; the writing is outstanding and the characters are real and believable.
Thanks NBC for renewing Friday Night Lights. Now if all the fans of the program can get at least one of their friends to watch the program, NBC will have a mega-hit.
I've already stated why but isn't is too great that it's saved !!!! Now to the make the victory greater, one or all of the actors to come on this site and thank us.
Best show on TV
This show is truly amazing on every level. It's well written, well acted, thought provoking and important. I don't understand why it continues to fly under the radar.
I wasn't sure how this was going to come out at first. The show has exceeded my expectations. I can't believe I got so cought up in watching this program, and my wife did also and she hates football. Most football shows are not very good, but this show is more than just football, it has a little bit for everyone. Please keep it going!
I think this is by far the best show on TV right now! I would hate to see it get the ax. I started to think of Wednesdays as the best day of the week just because this show was something to look forward too! I love how even though some of the characters hated each other, when push came to shove they all were there for each other. It is a true down to earth series and it would be a tragedy if NBC lets it go!
I think this show may reach across several demographics (I am a senior--no, not in high school--citizen). All the angles including school, home, kids, sports, relationships are presented contemporaneously. It hooked me--I picked it up online and have told many of my friends, including several who, like me are former teachers. It is well-written and well-acted...the kids are all great!
Simply put, Friday Night Lights is the most interesting, realistic, heart-wrenching show on television. It is an answer to anyone who claims television can't be good, can't be relevant, and can't be entertaining all at once.
Years ago, NBC was mired in last place in the ratings and gambled on two shows in the ratings basement: Cheers and Hill Street Blues. That was the start of their Thursday night must-see TV, which branding continued long after there was anything left that people would want to, as opposed to have to, see.
Friday Night Lights is truly must-see TV. It deserves its shot in a great timeslot, with total support from the network, to build the audience that this great show deserves.
It provides an insightful and bittersweet look at coming of age, as well as how groing up doesn't absolve you from problems - new obstacles always find you. The melancholy score by Explosions in the Sky, the intimate camerawork and sensitive protrayals all provide for a heartfelt experience every episode.
Between its wonderfully crafted story lines and its brilliantly acted characters, Friday Night Lights is an experience not to be missed. This program has a rare quality that makes its audience empathize with its characters. Of all of the television series I have seen this year, there is not one that I care to see return more than Friday Night Lights. I would be truly saddened if I could not continue to witness the lives of the people of Dillon, Texas.
Friday night lights is a great show about family, sports, love, and the politics of a small town. It deservs another chance for another season. Put it in a consistent time slot and more viewers will watch it!
The best show in years! So believeable. I am cheering at the end. Great writing, and the actors are so well suited for their parts. The problem: all the hype is on American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. Both fun shows to watch, but Friday Nights needs to tap into the younger market. I see Tina from 30 Rock all over the talk shows to keep her show afloat. Get some hype and sell!!! Then start at the beginning, advertise and let your audience see it from the first episode. I do think it is hard to pick up mid-stream because every episode builds from the previous week.
it's the best thing on television!
I love Friday Night Lights. There is no other way to put it. I must say that I am not a football fan, and when I saw commercials for this show, I thought it was just going to pay homage to the sport and glorify male bonding through sport and competition. But I was wrong. Soooo wrong. ( And I am very sorry. :) This show is about its characters. They are full and bodied and textured and have weight to them. You feel for them. No over articulate teenagers, no parents who dress like their kids and act like them, too. Like countless have said before, it is not about football. It's about this small town that has nothing going for it except for a highschool football team and how each of the characters interact with one another. And I'm sorry, but any show that gives you Matt Saracen AND Crucifictorious deserves to stay on television. So, to anybody that is not watching, please start. And to NBC, please renew it. Thank you.
This show has made such an impression on my wife and I, especially the dynamic between Coach Taylor and Mrs. Taylor and I honestly feel that other views have similar feelings.
Easily the best new show of the 06-07 TV season. My wife Tivoed it on a whim....i didn't expect to like it. I thought it would be Dawsons Creek with a football team. I was pleasantly surprised and will be very disappointed with NBC if it is not in next seasons lineup. If it is cancelled i will be less likely to give a new NBC show a chance.
Friday Night Lights is a rare gem in the television world. After hearing from many TV websites and bloggers how good this show was, when I discovered the full season on NBC, I decided to watch. I was immediately more addicted than I care to admit, and watched all 22 episodes in rapid succession. FNL caught my attention so strongly for its real commitment to its realistic, passionate storytelling, and its accurate and nuanced portrayal of relatable characters. No other television show currently airing deserves a 2007-08 season as much as Friday Night Lights and its extraordinarily talented cast and crew. I know that FNL will continue to draw in new fully devoted friends like myself, and become a real sleeper hit for NBC.
Best show on TV....period!
Simply the best TV show in the last 10+ years...
far and away the BEST show on T.V.
Friday Night Lights is the best show I've seen in a very long time! You can't ask for anything better! All I can say is that if it doesn't get another season someone must be brain dead. If NBC doesn't want it, I hope another network picks it up. I would like to see it run on Friday nights instead of Wednesday though. If they need room, they can take off Heroes, Scrubs, The Office, that stupid new detective show and I could name several more!!!!!!!! This show is the best thing that's happened to NBC, or TV in general, in a long time!!!!!! KEEP IT GOING...
i think it should get a second season because it teaches kids alot of life lessons and is great for the high school age group. Please keep it going i really enjoy and look forward to this show!!!
I enjoy good clean wholesome television and that's what you have with Friday Night Lights. Please let there be another season.
This is a great show, I played football all my life in Europe, but I never realised that the show was about so much more - drop the football driven advertising and draw in the numbers you need to give the go ahead for season 2!!
Come on, we really love the show, especially Lyla and we are running about here in Italy getting our heads busted for you guys!!

I could list any number of reasons why this show deserves a second season (great writing, a fanbase that is emotionally invested in the characters, excellent cast, creative camerawork, a show that doesn't appeal to the lowest common denominator, etc.) but I'll just say this:
Just once, prove that the entertainment industry can make a decision that is not only based on pure profit. This show should be renewed not because it makes the most money now, or ever will in the future. It should be renewed because it is better than anything else on TV. This includes the acting, writing, editing, direction, and production of this show. Just once, I'd like to see a television network reward greatness instead of mediocrity.
Do the right thing. Renew Friday Night Lights.
This is the best show on TV and the thought of losing it makes me real sad. It is so true-to-life and inspirational and touches on alot of controversial subjects. Our real lives are made up of so many ups and downs, and this show depicts these. The characters are great actors and they could not pick a better cast.
Please keep this show alive, for the benefit of all the viewers. The sitcoms now-a-days are so unreal and stupid, so this is refreshing.
